What is it?

Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time and can be verbal, social, physical, or digital (cyber). Students are protected against bullying and non-sexual harassment by anyone in any school program or activity, including on the school campus, on the school bus, or off-campus during a school-sponsored activity.

Bullying/ non-sexual harassment includes: physical, written, verbal, or other harassment, threats, intimidation, cyberbullying, causing bodily injury to, or committing hate violence against any other student or school personnel. Cyberbullying includes the transmission of harassing communications, direct threats or other harmful texts, sounds, or images on the Internet, social media or other technologies using a telephone, computer of any wireless communication device. It also includes breaking into another person’s electronic account and assuming that person’s identity in order to damage that person’s reputation. (BP 5131.2- Bullying).

Verbal Bullying

  • Teasing
  • Name-calling
  • Inappropriate sexual comments
  • Taunting
  • Threatening to cause harm

Social Bullying

  • Leaving someone out on purpose
  • Telling other people not to be friends with someone
  • Embarrassing someone in public

Physical Bullying

  • Hitting, kicking, and pinching
  • Spitting
  • Tripping and pushing
  • Taking or breaking someone's things
  • Making mean or rude hand gestures


  • Transmission of harmful texts, sounds, images, direct threats, or other harassing communications using the Internet and social media.
  • Hacking someone's account

How to Report

If you experience bullying, sexual harassment, or other harassment, notify any staff member. You may also text or call an anonymous tips.
