The Sierra Vista Child & Family Services Therapeutic Intervention Program (T.I.P.) provides School Based Mental Health Counseling to both general education and special education students who attend one of the high schools in the Merced Union High School District (Atwater High School, Buhach Colony High School, El Capitan High School, Golden Valley High School, Livingston High School and Independence/Sequoia/Yosemite). A clinician is located at each campus to provide screening and assessment to identify social, emotional and behavioral symptoms. Individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, parent counseling and crisis counseling are available to assist students and their families with specific issues that significantly interfere with their level of functioning. Parent education is available to assist parents with specific parenting concerns either individually or in a group setting. Teacher consultation is also available to all teachers at the school sites to help improve level of functioning in the classroom. General education students are referred through academic counselors, administrators, school psychologists and Livingston Community Health Managers. Special education students are referred through the IEP process in which services are identified on the student's IEP. This service is provided at no cost to families.
