Welcome to the Merced Union High School District (MUHSD) Pre-Induction Program, which supports teachers with Short-Term Staff Permit (STSP), Provisional Internship (PIP), and internships. Commitment and participation in MUHSD’s Pre-Induction Program will empower teachers to grow their professional practices as they move towards becoming life-long educators.
The Pre-Induction Program is guided along the way by the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) as the foundational component of the program and "just-in-time" support to help transition teachers new to the profession.
The program is designed to increase each teacher’s pedagogical knowledge and abilities resulting in student achievement as measured by the CSTP and advancement on the Continuum of Teaching Practices (a tool for self-reflection, goal setting, and inquiry into practice that provides common language about teaching and learning).
Program staff regularly review goals and assess program effectiveness based on informal data collected by district New Teacher Support Mentors and formal collection of survey data and seminar evaluations. Revisions to the Pre-Induction Program, which falls under the New Teacher Support Program, are made, as appropriate. Final program decisions rest with the Superintendent (Unit Head). Upon completion of the program, teachers are encouraged to enroll in the MUHSD Induction program.
